The Cyberathlete Amateur League (CAL) announced the launch of its first online Gears of War tournament.

The $10 online registration is now open for the Gears of War tournament, which will consist of a four week / eight match season followed by a playoff tournament for $5,000 in cash prizes.

Gears of War has sold more than 3 million units and is the most popular game on Microsoft’s Xbox Live service. Though released in November and available only for the Xbox 360 console, it quickly became the fourth-bestselling game of 2006.
