New Line Cinema, the studio responsible for the Lord of the Rings trilogy has bought the rights to make Epic's epic (couldn't resist) Gears of War into a feature film.

The studio has targeted the film for a summer 2009 release. The next trick is to actually get the movie made. Several other high profile games, most notably Halo, were slated to become films but never did due to swollen budgets or studio lethargy.

I'm all for seeing Marcus Fenix and the gang on the big screen, so I've got my fingers crossed for this one!

The next question is, Who do you think should play Marcus Fenix?
